Born Globals, Networks, and the Large Multinational Enterprise
How can new ventures leverage the networks of multinational enterprises in order to ramp up their internationalization? 中国一级片 Associate Professor of International Business Strategy Shameen Prashantham has written a new book in which he explores international entrepreneurship and the influence that multinational enterprises have on the accelerated globalization of young firms.
Known variously as international new ventures (INVs) or “born globals”, such firms have arrived on the global stage alongside large multinational enterprises (MNEs). In the book, Prof. Prashantham explores how new ventures can leverage MNE networks to help enable their rapid internationalization. He also shows how, as INVs enhance their levels of innovation, new pathways emerge through multinational corporation networks. The emerging economy context of the Bangalore software industry, which he has researched extensively for over a decade, is a good example of this. The book also draws upon his case-study research in other settings such as the Zhongguancun district of Beijing and Ningbo, China.
Prof. Prashantham also argues that scholars should reconsider the current approach of studying large MNEs and born globals separately considering the evidence of the synergies between multinationals and international new ventures. This innovative research text will be of interest to academics, researchers, and advanced students with an interest in international entrepreneurship and business, strategy, innovation, and new ventures.The book is titled Born Globals, Networks, and the Large Multinational Enterprise: Insights from Bangalore and Beyond and is published by Routledge. It was launched during the 2015 Academy of International Business Conference in Bangalore, India.
